A WINTER SOLSTICE BLESSING®
Original, heartfelt holiday and world peace poetry by Donna J. Fennel.
Quilled from my door on this 21st day of December, 2004 … while eternity I explore.
Greetings, Father in Heaven. Well, now, how did humanity fare this year?
Did You witness our first “Blissmas” of a world of cheer, nay, not of fear?
While you tipped your cup, did we measure up from Your Heavenly tier?
Or from Your celestial hemisphere, did we provoke yet another holy tear?
As You gazed into Your chalice, did you view pandemonium and malice?
Or did Your pool tide in Holy Grail permit view of our waking world anew?
O, do You forecast that we will become steadfast, and our race will outlast ~
A once tumultuous and torrid past destined to transform, while time is cast?
While flakes of snow permit sister Solaris to dub them as trinkets in her sky ~
And eagle flies high o’er passersby, swarmed with Christmastide tokens nigh
I pray that You bestow with all that You know to extend good will and peace ~
To those who have no gift to spare or share, so that Your wonders ne’er cease.
Alas, Lord, while all lay still and bells ‘pon yonder hill are joyously chiming ~
Be it now the Solstice of a yawning year, I fear that You do not hear us pining.
For our mournful cries have been muffled by wayward winds, mocked by sins ~
Ah, ‘midst this din and despair, we pray that You spare enough for man to win!
For when You help us to find our way back home, to emulate Your placid place ~
Man will ne’er again fall from Your holy grace, for his sinful slate will be erased.
And when You gaze at the crystalline sheen spread below, ‘pon our beaten path ~
May this Solstice bless us with warmest poultice to eradicate our greed and wrath.
Now as I raise my own silvered cup and supp ‘pon Your feast of wondrous Love ~
Your hint of winter yearns to splinter the crest and breast of mountains rising above
My humble home, from which I tend to roam in spirit, when I receive Your instill ~
To spill Your verse or two of good will from quill and hill, so all in need will heed.
And while we sashay and sway to the merry music sung, and bells are being rung ~
May we find, ‘midst mirth and merriment in time that You love from Heaven’s run.
Alas, when this by us is discovered, ‘tis when all men’s wrongs will be uncovered ~
And when we look towards Heaven once again, then we will see our Divine Friend.
Ah, ‘midst this Christmastide pomp and pageantry, my dream be to present imagery ~
That a world of hope, peace and good will one day exist deep within our heart’s abyss
Enough to be spread far and wide with pride, and with all that I have done and said ~
May your children all recall what Your Son said, while we supp ‘pon wine and bread.
And while feathers are spun ‘round from blustery wind and weather soon to abound ~
‘May ferocious frost that surrounds our town find its way home aboard a Nordic ferry.
‘Tis then we will witness mankind’s Divine hour of power, while he is making merry ~
When approaching ghastly gale sets sail, without fail, ‘pon the tail of more Arctic trail.
Yea, may all selfish dreams and brilliant schemes be whisked away with wildest wind ~
In the meantime, may You find it ‘midst Your Divine heart to absolve us of mortal sin.
I pray that You bless us with a peaceful way, so that we can look forward to better days.
And while we celebrate in kindredship, may You not be forced to crack the gilded whip.
Father, what our race of grace, ‘midst such doleful place, in their heart is seeking after ~
Indeed, need not become humanity’s dying creed, when man reaches Your final chapter.
O, I pray that one day man will cock his ear a tad, to catch Your breath that whispers ~
“Peace and good will shall herewith be unto you, living as loving brothers and sisters.”
One more thing … Heavenly Father … while we celebrate this blessed Solstice day ~
May You find it within Your Divine Eminence to send Satan on his way today. Amen.
I pray that you and yours receive all that is best and blessed during this holiday season
and throughout the New Year. May the Solstice bells ring loud and true just for you!
