BEYOND AN ORDINARY WORLD®
Original, philosophical poetry to promote a world of peace.
By Donna J. Fennel on April 15, 2003.
Revised just for you on May 15, 2006.
As gently as the caresses of mulled morning sea mist ~
Angels hovered Earthbound towards ashen aqua green.
Of such watery depths that coursed to a certain end ~
Like their former ocean life and the omega unforeseen.
For these seraphim now witnessed the gory aftermath ~
Of the holocaust of mankind, due to his ruthless wrath.
Oh, this ravaged sea, once abundant with aquatic life ~
Now lay barren and mournful, like the widowed wife.
The death clouds shroud an Earth now come to cease ~
There are no signs left, here, for what might have been.
If only mankind had worked towards a planet of peace ~
And found the firmament of Jesus to heal his soul within.
The brutal sands of time now gusting on this barren beach ~
Are rustling leaves of memory far beyond a man’s reach.
Harboring haunting whispers of what was a thriving race ~
Whose greed and hatred had spawned such a woeful place.
Man’s pride had stood in the way of his life’s uncertain tide ~
Choosing to swim upstream; casting hopes to distant dreams.
The human race now drifts free amongst a realm of galaxies ~
Like vanishing stars caught in a wild vortex of eternal screams.
The angels cried in sorrow, as they caught their own reflection ~
In this gloomy ocean. Oh, if man had only changed direction!
Had he promulgated world peace, per the Lord's master plan ~
Instead of casting their own extinction of the brethren of man!
Like a weatherworn fishing rod well-bent with seasoned strength ~
Lending dignity to the navigator of a skilled angler’s enticing lure.
O, mankind’s net of grace could have dipped so deeply to hold ~
Unified pride of those who do not compete, complete and cured.
And now, while weary whales have finally found eternal rest ~
As heavenly hosts wondered if this is merely illusion to ignore?
Presented to them by One blessed, as tho to warn these hosts ~
Of man’s impending demise, should he not stop hunger and war.
Alas, perhaps their mission on Earth was to herald the warning ~
To humankind, should he choose not to promulgate world peace.
Or perhaps this may be a message delivered to me from God ~
To heed thereby abolishing hate and greed, for these must cease.
Nevertheless, these cherubim in their hallowed hearts believed ~
What they witnessed now was actual, and their eyes didn’t deceive.
Whether or not this be an illusion, know well this is so credible ~
That if man does not seek world peace now, his doom is inevitable.
As dead sun shadows suffering Earth with its sinister specter ~
The angels ascended towards Heaven, no doubt in their minds
That this be fate of man, if he not eradicate greed and hatred ~
Now, spreading world peace amongst his own divine humankind.
Pray for new world fostering a fresh beginning for us as a race ~
For we can and will eventually make this planet a better place.
For it is never too late to spread fellowship across our lands ~
The first step is to go out, hug your neighbor and shake hands.
I shall leave this up to you as to whether or not this tale is real ~
Let us pray that we will never allow our mission of peace to cease.
For as I sit here pouring from my heart and soul all that is real ~
I pray to God that we will one day be a unified planet of peace.
My world peace gift to you during this holy Lenten season.
Prayers that peace on Earth all brothers may one day share.
While I offer my hand, heart and hope to the family of man,
