Fathom all atoms now entering our cosmic stratum. Donna J. Fennel

THE LABYRINTH OF LIFE®
Original, philosophical poetry by Donna J. Fennel.
I dedicate this to the heroic persons we lost, and their survivors, during the unsuccessful NASA Columbia space shuttle mission in February, 2003.
World heroes, may you forever rest in heavenly peace.
First publication issued on September 20, 2003.
Revised especially for you on June 28, 2006.

Hope is a balmy breeze blowing across billowy clouds ~
While innocence announces by pounding upon life’s door.
Bliss from a kiss blankets us, while sadness it shrouds ~
Perhaps because humanity hungers for something more.

Yearning is a soliloquy waking sleeping spirits of the dead ~
Yet few among human brethren yearn for what is theirs.
Tho love may lustfully seduce half-naked upon the bed ~
Life tends to present itself as a labyrinth of doors and stairs.

While shallow souls pursue prey of their wanton desire ~
They recognize not that to have must mean to work at, still
Exists a human bond, far beyond, quenching not love's fire ~
Harbored in the hearts of men, as they come and go at will.

Need is a windblown banshee that strips the landscape bare ~
For without love and adoration, life is unworthy exploration.
Yet through the convoluted vortex of space and time aware ~
Love fosters relief of absolution by providing an idyllic solution.

Despite the hieroglyphics we labor to decipher between the lines ~
When societies quarrel, self-obsessed, blinded by a false creed.
Cupid’s bow and arrow, tho narrow, quivers and in time delivers ~
Enveloping us in a heavenly haven of thought, word and deed.

Upon their united mission of mercy, they followed their lifelong quest ~
To become one with our universe, enmeshed with every particle and eon.
Perhaps one day harness our galaxy, for it is destiny to fulfill this request.
Little did any man know that this mission would be their final swan song.

Sprawling as quantum mass, they congregate with the stars in Heaven’s wake ~
With the solar system’s spheres and shapes, into a supernova they amalgamate.
Their ravaged passage into the cosmos, once of human flesh crossing our trail ~
Foretold the craft would vanish into a stratum; their mission was doomed to fail.

While sleeping in stellar sanctum, the world cries for our heroes and innocents ~
As we bow our heads in prayer to honor our dead, wondering where they went.
We hope that Heaven will send us a Knight of the Light to rid us of these plights.
Honored heroes, when you died for us, our innocence was lost, at a great cost.

Through the veil vestibule of vapor trails in the wide blue yonder, men observed ~
Those proud and prepared, whose pain we shared, as the shuttle fell towards Earth.
Whose ramparts whistled through the breeze, as seven angels tumbled to their knees ~
While humanity dwelling in the "Land of the Free" witnessed this horrific space tragedy.

From my heart to heroes and their surviving families of the Columbia space mission ~
Let us pray that their spirits and brevitude live on in our hearts and make us strong.
Yet we must move forward with our space exploration and proceed with admonition ~
For these brave souls whom we honor, dedicating a shrine in the hearts of mankind.

O, valiant astronauts, disburse your atoms, merge with quarks, be our sentinels ~
As seven angels spread their wings, to take their place in the catacombs of space.
In the vortex of quantum time your souls we extol, exploding among the stars ~
For in humankind’s name you reside as an eternal flame, in your final resting place.

May the hour arrive when man will thrive, eradicate wars and attain world peace ~
For when we place our trust in our Higher Power, know that His wonders never cease.

Cyber Donna's World Peace Message:

"I pray that one day there will be unification of all nations, before impending devastation and to protect our future generations.  To our Higher Power we should demonstrate veneration and adulation, in order for our woeful world to receive salvation and elation through cooperation.  For it is through our own creation, promulgation, dedication, and education that we will rise above as one unified congregation.  Alas, our planet will come to know that, in doing so, before our final setting sun mankind will
have won."
-- Donna J. Fennel - February 20, 2004

"While we reach for the stars to one day connect with them, may we recall that we are star voyagers, on a timeless journey homeward as an endless, cosmic ray of benevolent being moving towards the Light."
-- Donna J. Fennel - 2006
