HARMONIOUS PERFORMANCE®
Original, sentimental Harmony poetry by Donna J. Fennel.
Quilled on this blessed 12th day of August, 2004 atop my balcony.
Revised during this star-studded 14th eve of May, 2006 I believe.
Reflections of our new homestead in beautiful Harmony Center.
Admittedly, my balcony does inspire to write until desire tires ~
I desire for you a moment to spend in this world without end.

O, the haven of Harmony, where myriad of mountains rise ~
O'er whose vivid, velveteen vista, now creamiest of cloud flies
‘Midst our valley vestibule, where wildflowers wistfully grow ~
Beckons a paradise ere pristine, as God should have us know.

From skies of deep azure blue, what appears in yonder view ~
Is a frolicking fawn 'pon our lawn, wayward from mama, true.
A crest ‘pon his baby breast, parading as our gracious guest ~
In silent solitude, his frail form plays in sun’s welcomed warm.

Unchallenged monarch of realm above, an eagle now ascends ~
Heading home towards throne, his highness 'mongst fowl friends.
Cattle low in yonder shade, as calves saunter in silent promenade ~
While brook bubbles in a gleeful glade, our dell the Lord has made.

Through misty morn day takes form, while a frazzled fox forlorn ~
And lost, attempts to locate his origin wherefrom land he crossed.
While cacophony of crows lets me know they are prancing on prey ~
As mice hide from their talons ere wide, and seek safety in our hay.

A waking wind wishes to tamper with our waiting weathervane ~
Wavering and quavering questfully, a direction not yet proclaimed.
While wind chimes cheer it on towards seeking southerly breeze ~
O, the dynamics of this day’s delicacies does bring me to my knees.

During decadence of dusk, bat brigade emerges in yonder clearing ~
Like sinister sentinels shadowy and small, heralding eve is nearing.
Yet unlike daylight overtures, their bellow brims of banshee’s calls ~
As nebula of night’s hour soon falls, they seek harbor in house walls.

I tend to wonder what awaits me atop our majestic mountain summit ~
Legend reveals there is a black bear that has made it his humble lair.
One fine day, husband and I wish to dare to journey up towards there ~
Tho I do know if I get in its hair, I shall lose my balance and plummet.

O, I welcome delicate kiss of virgin snow ‘pon our new dome throne ~
When snow-crowned, cradling boughs will be savored in balsam home.
As their bounty gleams in glistening glades 'midst their right-of-way ~
While their marshallowed mittens do sway, and blustery breezes sashay.

Daytime is an endless balm of backwoods country road, etched in time ~
Harboring a hopeful haven of healing heaven for my husband and me.
While we waltz and we walk away our woebegone ways, and hope ~
This woodland welcomes waiting, wishing souls to set our spirits fee.

For this sanctuary spawns solitude 'midst its parapet of lush leaves ~
Decadently displayed, in God’s array, of every hue of gorgeous green.
Like panoramic painting, palette reveals profound portrait of peace ~
Woven so wondrously into this wistful word of nature’s grandest scene.

I watch, as whispering wind now ripples yonder river’s mirrored face ~
While seducing mistress moon’s sultry sensation to pirouette and dance.
In merry abandon, till undulation of appreciation vanishes sans trace ~
I become so mesmerized in divine surprise, as tho gifted by God’s grace.

I take breaths 'pon my balcony pondering life, love and all in-between ~
While bullfrog choirs chirp and croak their choral soliloquies in song.
And crickets click their cacophony of choirs, from locations unseen ~
As a haunting hoot of owl heralds a lilting, lonely lullaby, soft and long.

O, Harmony’s harbor of hills thrill of meadow sounds and streams ~
Shrouded soon by wake of moon, they will croon their final swan song.
To have viewed an entire day of wilderness foray, ere lost in dream ~
Was the Lord’s gift to me atop my balcony, whose magic is prolonged.

I witness the wilderness thrones and dominions rise and pass away ~
And changing of guard while angels charge, announcing end of day.
Mellowed mountains abound and surround, yawning at waking moon ~
While whip-o-will whistles merriest tune, knowing eve is coming soon.

Moon hungers to be viewed, while sun's shimmer is tenderly tinting ~
Still gleaming and glinting, hearken the hum of horse’s hooves clinting.
While whistle of wind becomes so brawling, as it beckons to bluster ~
Sallow sheaves shimmy 'midst leaves, in hues of forest and mustard.

Now added to my idle, rambling road of thought of all yet to be seen ~
This fantasia of forest draws me down its path, distancing mortal plight.
As fireflies 'pon gilded, gossamer wings trace patterns crisp and clean ~
While star sentinels pale in comparison, by their powerlessness of flight.

Hounds bellow haunting sounds, heralding night beasts are all around ~
O, such clamor leaves me so enamored, for nighttime will now impound.
Nonesuch finer tapestry than Harmony, as it abounds and surrounds ~
Yet when curtain of dreamy day is drawn, I long for nocturnal sounds.

Alas, Harmony's ghosts of history past look forward to opening night ~
When they can ignite fright with delight 'pon unknowing neighbors new.
Phantasms of these chasms yearn to return 'round this witching hour ~
For the land was theirs before becoming our lair; they seek to empower.

Lost in thought, I am lulled towards asleep, vanquishing visions surreal ~
Cocooned in a euphoric stupor, while I muse moonlit evening song away.
Knowing dawn encroaches and approaches, while twinkle in time I steal ~
My pride of this lovely land will never die, when sun births grand new day.

Weary wilderness wanderers seek slumber 'midst tiny crannies and nooks ~
As Mars sanctions spotlight 'mongst placid peaks, beyond babbling brook
Whose song has played all day long, its mesmerizing melody softly wanes ~
Tho this day was meant to entertain, my vigor vanquishes to fade in vain.
