During the course of life, I have crossed many paths ~
Several of which masqueraded as an act of God’s wrath.
Wearing heart upon sleeve, my judgments were amiss ~
For I had placed trust in those who took advantage of this.
O, people I honestly believed would be there just for you ~
For you helped them, and a friend you had remained so true.
However, most of the time my investment of trust lacked ~
My ability to see their superficiality, and then they attacked.
How I yearned for something I had or believed I could obtain ~
An honest friend who would not use me for selfish personal gain.
Tho the lot of these cruel lessons had left me quite despondent ~
I prayed to Jesus for my answers, then one day He responded.
I asked Him, “Is there a friend for me whose intentions are real ~
Who could reciprocate my loyalty, and not make a fast deal?”
Is there a special someone for me who could be a genuine friend?
One with whom I need not pretend? A friend until time's end?”
I became desperate, and nearly ready to give up the search ~
Sadly, I began to believe truth and honesty lives only in church.
It was that moment when someone uniquely special came along ~
A lovely troubadour I could not ignore, who sang a different song.
Someone who did not care how much wealth or goods I possessed ~
Who would invite me to their home anytime, as their honored guest.
Believe me, this woman did not come looking for fortune or fame ~
Indeed, her friendship is authentic, and she is not into head games.
She truly accepts me for who I am, and overlooks all of my flaws ~
She even loves my playful kitten Topaz, despite her annoying claws.
This woman experienced loneliness too, but no more, for you see ~
With me she has now found her true family, and is like a sister to me.
This refined lady is my friend until time’s end, and of this I am glad ~
She communicates with her heart, and is the best friend I ever had!
She never asks for anything in return, for every favor that she does ~
Yes, I have found my true friend to the end, and for this Eleana I love.
She knows where she is going, her heart and smile forever growing ~
We two own knowledge ardently growing, for our passions are fueled
Pursuing philosophy, for it is key to solving life’s subtlety of mystery ~
As Earth turns another page in history among our solar system’s jewels.
My dear Eleana, know that if ever you come knocking on my door ~
It will always be open no matter the time, the reason or the rhyme.
You give so unselfishly, without slightest thought of profit or greed ~
My love, loyalty, encouragement, and friendship is all you ever need.
Her captivating charm in a gentle spirit encased with a face of grace ~
And a strong, beautiful frame, whose beauty is surpassed by her name.
Eleana, these words I have quilled here today are to give humble thanks ~
To you my dear, for on my best friendship list you reign at highest rank!
Know when we scope our innermost soul, in search of the Lord’s guidance ~
We can find, in time, His direction and protection for us He never does ignore.
Yet do not ignore His plan for great things in store for you and, per chance ~
He may bless you with an Eleana or two, as you enter and exit life’s door.
