I savor the mollifying, mesmerizing Harmony Autumn memories. Donna J. Fennel

Welcome to my Avalon autumn.

AUTUMNAL ANNUNCIATION ®

Original, reflective poetry by Donna J. Fennel.
Quilled atop my home balcony on September 14, 2004.
Revised on September 25, 2006 especially for you.

Intrinsic, prismic rays enrapture morn ere gray ~
While light confounds and impounds one’s eyes
With surprise, and colorific be this glorious guise.
Now crimson blaze bestows its autumnal forays ~
’Neath lapis lazuli lure shroud of sumptuous skies.

Know that neither haze nor mythical mists impede ~
Echelon of illumine intensities or their immediacy,
Cerulean captivation evokes elation.  Only autumn
Or Monet would dare paint delicate, dazzling sky ~
With ingenious, insightful impressionist objectivity!

Crispest clarity of this visage mollifies and mystifies ~
This twilight twinkle in time, as tho instance vivifies
The new sumptuous season and summer tide’s demise ~
Emerges evidence of what evolutionary nature implies ~
And all that beckoning myriad of months ahead belies.

'Midst alluring autumn breeze, whisper waiting trees ~
While oleander and salamander tumble to their knees
Bidding adieu to their shadow of summertide view ~
As sun slows degrees and hue, and all he once knew.
And sister moon opiates sky once pale porcelain blue.

Copper and golden ingots ingratiate my lingering leaves ~
While farmer sows his sheaves, and goose gaggle grieves
For its hour to migrate southbound does approach soon ~
As autumn heralds arrival, accompanied by harvest moon
Announcing arterial drain of what Mother Nature leaves.

O, this season of mists and flourishing farm fruitfulness ~
Most treasured troubadour and more, ‘midst maturing sun
Conspires with this sire, as he retires, how now to bless ~
With bounty yield from vines that round our orchards run ~
Along world wondrous woven from God’s thoughtfulness.

Apple armies await their turn to topple towards ground ~
While a pumpkin parapet swells its golden gourd with pride.
Wilderness now is hushed by wind’s woeful, sultry sound ~
As a stray starling hymn echoes, while a hawk and eagle glide
Towards prey of this decadent day, as autumn does abound.

Mother Nature now mourns for her flora forlorn that died ~
During eve’s flicker of frost, blanketing baled hay and grass
Acknowledging autumn is finally cast, with booming pride ~
As summer tide’s sylphlike symphonies soften and wane, at last
Sanctioning her ultimate swan song, while a timber wolf cries.

An aging acorn abandons its cap, as it pitifully plummets ~
Towards graveled ground, muffled by waking wildlife sound.
It dolefully descends from misty morn’s mountain summit ~
Marvelous mahogany abounds, perspective perfectly round
Finery revealed in chiseled crown, like a man about town.

This autumnal annunciation awakens with awed anticipation ~
For which I must show my utmost appreciation and relegation.
While squirrels scurry and hurry, awaiting dust of snow flurry ~
Beasts towards hibernation durry, and wind wails in jubilation.
Such season is my favorite, and now I am obliged to savor it.

A purveyed pavé of pathways provides gilded goldenrod glory ~
As approaching awning of afternoon atmospherics ere arrayed
In valediction, reveals venerable vivacity of autumnal story ~
‘Midst valley’s vestibule, where yonder cattle and sow parade.
O, this day is much like hallowed Eden of Biblical allegory.

Witness now changing of guard 'mongst forest beasts untamed ~
As this paradise proclaims autumn announces its homecoming
While harrowed honeybees hum that their slumber comes soon ~
And Mars bids adieu to this season anew, waning from my view
As the Pleiades lessen their degrees, seven sister stars ere true.

Alas, approaching chill now instills me to quicken my quill ~
While wind whispers in rhyme with my cherubim wind chime
That it is time allow autumn to weave her own tale, at will.
As her fall foliage beckons, mulled cider is waiting, I reckon ~
To ease the spirit towards peace, while tapestries God weaves.
