BLESS THIS BOUNTY CALLED LIFE®

My original, religious, festive holiday inspiration
Commemorating Thanksgiving and life's appreciation.
Quilled by me on this 19th day of November, 2004 ~
A world of gratitude and humane attitude to explore.
Revised by fireside on this 25th day of November, 2005.
By Donna J. Fennel ~ Happy Holidays year 'round!

Comes now the bountiful banquet time of year ~
When Bacchus pours his libations of good cheer.
And even those modest destitute might spare ~
Towards much poorer souls their humblest share.

While the bursting barns and granaries know
Such a flourishing and substantial overflow ~
And those who dwell in surplus of golden ease ~
Are bless'd without toil, yet now toil to please.

Weary from all her willing work of Spring ~
And Summer’s long and listful nurturing
Mother Earth views hour as her dinnertime ~
Where upon nature’s bounty she now dines.

Just before her slumber in winter’s breast ~
Where after supper, she shall cometh to rest.
As autumn displays now her grandiose show ~
While she calmly awaits wailing wind’s blow.

The blessed Thanksgiving has now arrived ~
That ever so treasured and revered of days.
When Jesus bestows us with blessed boon ~
His Divine Love and redemption to our USA.

Cometh hour our year turneth full-circle ~
While the four seasons swiftly come and go.
The harvest is reaped, as we gather sheaves ~
Soon north winds shall introduce virgin snow.

Orchards now share with us precious treasures ~
As we engage ourselves in sumptuous pleasures.
Fields now flourish, bursting with saffron grain ~
While we herald hallowed Thanksgiving once again.

Tempting turkey and ham now steam 'pon platter ~
While families gather together to dine and chatter.
Ah, these delectable delights, including roast beast ~
Lend such ambience to bountiful Thanksgiving feast.

As we now give Jesus grace, we shed a few tears ~
While we reminisce upon those bygone holiday years.
We shall toast one another with a cup of good cheer ~
And we must now rid our hearts of doubts and fears.

This bounty represents our passing year of penitence ~
When we asked Jesus to forgive us for our arrogance.
This communion with our heavenly Father now brings ~
A glorious melody that our good hearts rejoice and sing.

A grapevine wreath of magnolia, wisteria and leaves ~
As an autumnal array of spray adorns the front door.
Beckoning dear guests with which thou were bless'd ~
To enter Thanksgiving’s cornucopia of love and lore.

Tho life passes swiftly through time, like a faded leaf ~
Its harvest quickly dwindles into a withered husk.
Think naught that life manifests as void and brief ~
Or monotonous and solemn grief in the barren dusk.

Existence beyond this dimension is a realm so divine ~
Enjoy this life’s bounty now, while ye still has time.
Be content with what life’s cornucopia has to give ~
Do share food with the poor, so that others may live.

While we take a moment to fondly pause and remember ~
Easters from days that were, like an extinguished ember
In our minds, we must give glory to our Savior above ~
For it is He who allows us to convene with His Love.

As we sit down to our humble holiday banquet now ~
O, let us pray for those far less fortunate than thou.
While we are saying grace, do give grace to others ~
For we, blessed as a race, are one with our brothers.

‘Tis time to gather ‘round, during feast and libations ~
To give thanks now to the Lord for His divine creation.
Remember Jesus is the reason for this glorious season ~
It is to Him we should express our humblest appreciation.

We now give thanks for this precious bounty called life ~
Well-exemplified by this festive Thanksgiving feast here.
While we are carving the hams throughout our lands ~
Let us be thankful now and generous, year after year.

My Thanksgiving poem especially for you, cyber crew.
