Her tears plummet from the sky where God and His angels cry. Donna J. Fennel
EASTER TEARS® Original, spiritual poetry quilled from the heart by
Donna J. Fennel on this clear day of April 10, 2005.
Revised especially with you in mind on March 28, 2006.
A kiss of rain quietly cascades, as gleaming stars tickle twilight’s haze ~
Moments like this when I reminisce upon family Easters of bygone days.
O, I wish I could turn back the hands of time, living them all over again ~
Favorite Easter times I have treasured inside, still warm my heart as then.
As I gaze out my window above the gnarled limbs of windswept oak trees ~
An eloquent elegance of emerald appears, bringing me humbly to my knees.
And the vista before me bows to royalty, as springtide evensong enters ~
While children hunt for Easter eggs yonder, as God’s innocent pretenders.
Now raindrops caress a withered field, and trails where the foxes hide ~
As phantoms from my days that were haunt my hometown’s countryside.
The Earth receives her glistening crown, heralding spring can now begin ~
Alas, tonight I can lay all my burdens down for it is raining, once again.
As I draw the curtains back to peer at Springtide’s majesty once more ~
Nature, a nurturing mother is she, quenching a world that she adores.
The condensation upon window masks my reflection as I pause to recall ~
‘Tis the eve of Palm Sunday, portending when Jesus Christ died for us all.
Beckons soon approaching morn when with palms cathedral be adorned ~
While the brethren of man shall rejoice and honor Him in humblest voice ~
As Easter hymns of hope are sung, while our congregation gathers near ~
My favorite Easter memories safeguard these blessings I treasure dear.
Akin to this holiday, one other we should recall, the most precious of all ~
Was when a newborn Babe, our infant king was born in a dim, lowly stall.
When Angel Gabriel heralded the news, and the yearning masses rejoice ~
Our greatest hope, this Babe oh so pure, was the Lord’s own perfect choice.
Yet, as I faintly recollect those ancestral ghosts from my Easter days of yore ~
I hang my head now in remorse to consider, I should have loved Him more!
Know the greatest gift of Christ is still availed to those both young and old ~
Repent, for we have allowed life's worldly glitz to surpass God's pure gold.
This Easter, I wish for humankind’s lives to shine brighter than seasons past ~
For once revealing Easter’s divine truth, through genteel gestures that last.
Lord Jesus, please accept my love and adoration; allow it to thrive and live ~
Work through me, so that a sad world may be redeemed, learning to give.
True believers cried when our Savior Almighty died on the cross at Calvary.
When for our sins He bowed His head, sought Holy Father and then sped ~
Toward legions of the dead, beyond the Last Supper when they broke bread.
When Centurions witnessed His resurrection, they ran in the opposite direction.
While I witness the nuances of nocturnal night that now arrive before me ~
Conversation cackles from yonder room, as my family exchanges pleasantries.
I hold fast to my clannish Easter memories of past, for my soul’s protection ~
Alas, Jesus bestowed mankind with new direction because of His Resurrection.
Jesus gave us His salvation ever so freely; praise now His blessed, sweet name.
For God loved us so Savior He doth bestow. We are the reason that He came.
Because of His loss on the crooked cross, He absolved one and all from dross ~
Christ gave His life there at Calvary, so that our very souls would be set free.
Evening calls while rain falls upon lawn of umber, as my body seeks slumber ~
Yet before I retire, I promise to pray for those not attending Mass the next day.
Jesus will bless provision and protection for those honoring His Resurrection.
Hour arrives for they who strive to honor the Holy One known as God’s Son.
While the Lord’s tears now pelt against my window, I whisper praise to Thou ~
For my new life beckoning beyond this rain on plain, to one day be frozen pond.
Tho I have sinned, behold, it is because of Him that I shall be forgiven and win!
Ah, Sandman stirs my eyes to close, tho he knows I have not finished my prose.
My hope is that the brethren of man one day find permanent unity of race ~
For this soggy, sunken sod is like their hearts of stone; such a solemn place!
Each of God’s tears carries its own identity, as our fingerprints also reveal ~
My dream is for ultimate peace on Earth, and our spirits shall one day heal.
My original Easter gift and blessing to you.  Experience and enjoy a blessed holiday.
Peace, prayers and cares from Donna J. Fennel and family – for 2005 and beyond.
"The butterfly is my emissary.  They are so very fragile, like life. When I see one, I am reminded of the shortness of life and how important it is to live wisely."
