This one is for you, Russ. I miss you so ... Love, your daughter Donna
SEEK HIS LIGHT ®
Original, religious, honorary poetry
from the heart by Donna J. Fennel, CIW/SD.
Quilled from the heart for Russ on April 14, 2004.
Revised with my heartfelt pride on April 12, 2006.
To honor my deceased stepfather’s April birthday.
Along my course in life, forever winding and slow ~
Is a tendency to trepidate tentatively, where none go.
Climbing challenging chasms, so abysmal and wide ~
Yet vast to vanquish are my undulating ebbs and tides.
Lo, dismal darkness now casts such sinister shadows ~
Garnishing ghosts of grief and all hopes of tomorrow.
For my Lady Luck is an elusive suitor, a bashful bride ~
As strength surfaces from my cavalcading chasm inside.
Then I gaze into His Holy Light, the gilded gleam of God ~
A brightest beacon brimming with Lord’s lantern I sought.
Behold, its illuminosity eradicates all my tears and fears ~
While blinding my bounty of baleful burdens over the years.
I gravitate toward this Light to embrace its Holy gleam ~
For in the hollow of His holy hand, our Lord shall redeem.
Perplexing is a ubiquitous universe of unseen destinations ~
Yet I shall dwell in His Holy Home with admired adoration.
Erstwhile I bow, now, beneath a bevy of live oak cathedrals ~
As His face of grace becomes my peace and answer of perils.
Nay, naught solely in our worldly substance, but in mystery ~
He now persuades me to pursue His luminous Light of history.
From yonder bough falls foliage of truth upon forest floor ~
Releasing rapturous reverence in this realm below God’s door.
And flowers of fragrant fantasy flail petals of aromas sweet ~
Amongst crown of tangled branches, canopied and so complete.
God saw fit that Mother Nature now bestow rain on this plain ~
Sopping soil with her tender toil, to make this grove grow again.
The weather is a Northeast beast, as wilderness rambles rampant ~
She contemplates to decorate the woodland's local office branches.
Tho sleepy Spring now subtly sings, and hibernation does mark end ~
Ah, this transition remains true to a cycle of God that will not bend.
Beyond nymphs of night and gloom, His Light still ignites this room ~
Of emerald green amongst canopied arbor, blessed by His Holy ardor.
I now seek solace in this grove of grace, which time can never erase.
Rising beyond canopied trees, His Light appears now above this place.
God’s shimmering shroud of shine soothes me, ever balming and serene ~
Amidst this wood of dream and waters clean, the loveliest of scenes!
What to my wondering eyes, truly should not come as a surprise ~
A man I had not seen in quite awhile, now persuades me with a smile.
From Heaven above, he sends his love, while he wishes to confide ~
All is well, as he is with mother in the Light as emissary and guide.
This glen is much like a home arising in a new paradigm in a blink ~
With its dreamlike droplets of time in rhyme, harmoniously in sync.
Yet this wood is much like me, fleeting its freedom and great journey ~
And co-existent with man’s own destiny, yet belying echelon of eternity.
My birthday gift to you, dear Russ, my stepfather who is now with Jesus ~
And mom and dad.  Know she is glad, loves us all and will never leave us.
Russ, thank you so much for giving me the power of prose, as you were a
gifted grammatical genius and taught me masterfully, Heaven knows.
Love everlasting from you daughter, Donna ~ For 2004 and beyond.
"Alas, I seek spiritual sanctuary through my passionate poetic release ~
When no one is here on this God forsaken Earth but me left to please.
In this hallowed haven of my mind I no longer plan, nor do I scheme ~
For within this wistful world of worddom I whirl my willful dreams.”
Excerpted from my original poem, An Unexplored Shore  ®. Especially for you and yours by Donna J. Fennel ~ 2004-06

"While spirits and hearts we mend through the compassion, empathy, love and respect we lend, know that His angels God will send."
~ Donna J. Fennel - December 27, 2005 ~
"There exists a realm in the astral plane ~
Where soft night is born, and sunset dies.
Farthest shores see faint tides fade away ~
Mortal utopia of laughter, tears and sighs."
