"We were born into this world with the gift of free will; how we choose to use our free will determines the course of our planet's destiny."

MORTAL POSITION IN OPPOSITION® Original, spiritual, philosophical sonnet of poetic
Reflections from my home balcony by Donna J. Fennel.
Quilled on this 8th day of August, 2003 at 5:45 a.m.
Revised especially for thee and me on June 1, 2006.
Time when mind and body yearns to drift away ~
Merely an attempt to erase and replace this day.
Daring to dream and scheme in most mystic way ~
Following my rainbow radiating in prismic display.
Alas, there is a certain somewhere I wish to be ~
Wrapped in warmth, and from manacles set free.
Yet, all I possess is so profoundly here and now ~
For reality overrules what mind refuses to allow.
Above and beyond, in distance touched by Light ~
Unification of contemplation reveals what is right.
Mind is mesmerized in myriad of nebulous night ~
As mist transcends me towards vision of my plight.
Darkness draws near, nudging towards morrow ~
Shadowed specters sigh, as they sense my sorrow.
Somehow, perspective appears to me that maybe ~
I shall be stationed where the Lord wants me to be.
If I could find solace in such a starless sky tonight ~
Waning moon would swoon, no opalescence bright .
Where sun hidden is ridden of dismal dimness deep ~
Clouds would billow, while peace pillows me to sleep.
Beckons brink of early morn, when bees will swarm ~
‘Round waking wisps of oleander in meadow scene.
Sensuous scent, soft and white as a bowl of cream ~
As I pray I am captured and enraptured in a dream.
Summer tide arbor is adorned with immaculate ardor ~
While beyond our horizon, lilts lullaby of lethargic lark.
Sunlight sprays valleys and bays with rays ere bright ~
As cherubim choir in chanson, crooning God’s delight.
Orchard’s overture displays lilies and hyacinth ere fair ~
Filling cathedrals and vestibules with their essence rare.
Their intense incense ascends towards Lapis Lazuli skies ~
Nature’s offering to God, muffling man’s mournful cries.
As Jesus floods darkness with His light, doom drifts away ~
Angels bend low, in golden afterglow, lighting my way today.
Blossoms burgeoning from sod, towards palace of the Lord ~
From nature, whose nomenclature is born from His Holy Word.
Alas, I wither and dither throughout cycles, so like seasons ~
Of life, realizing these transitions are inexorably destined.
Spring sequesters blossoms, swaying in loyalist legions ~
While autumnal age turns gilded page, without question.
I shall survive my solitude, tho Satan wishes otherwise ~
For God has mission for me to do for others, this is true.
I sojourn through this life, knowing when day is through ~
That many morrows bring no sorrow, but Divine surprise.
Since I had moved my home to this hallowed Harmony sod ~
I gave my life to God, whom I sought when overwrought.
Since his Eminence knows all is blessed in land and sea ~
I believe the Lord has placed me where He wants me to be.
Alas, sometimes I get to thinking, while my labor I review ~
That I should strive for a higher place, with greater to do.
Yet I have drawn my conclusion, when envying is stilled ~
That the post God has given me is the one He wants filled.
I yearn to turn prejudiced planet around, one day at a time ~
Taking a stand to lend humble hand to those who suffer so.
For my heart is an open door to poor, whom I shant ignore ~
While compassion is my harbor to protect stormiest of souls.
O, my heart does bleed for those in need, and men of greed ~
Their sea of misery is nourished by souls that might perish
Unless they turn to the Lord, who will wield His holy sword ~
For protection and direction, as outcome of His resurrection.
Be gone now, decadence of darkness lurking, looming low ~
O’er my soul, for I have found salvation ‘midst murky hole.
The windowpane of life, tho now reflects such woeful face ~
Is merely illusion of intrusion, for I have found God’s grace.
So while my sonnet is ardently spun, during dreamy dawn ~
Upon my balcony overlooking this captivating hill and valley
With coffee in hand, I be blessed to witness this grand land ~
Waking with me, mysterious Harmony, in grandest of finale.
