BLESS A LIFE SO GREAT^®

The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday inspired me to author
this poem commemorating his message to the family of man.

Jesus, bless us with a life so great ~
If mankind accepts himself as his fate.
If from Mother Nature we not deviate.
If our parents and elders we adulate.

If with consideration we choose a mate.
If from our loins the future we generate.
If our place in generations we appreciate.
If loving relationships we consummate.

Jesus, bless us with a life so great ~
If for our children’s future we create.
If motherhood we do not denigrate.
If we learn to love, as though innate.

If our children we do not castigate.
If with common sense we educate.
If propaganda we do not inculcate.
If our goals we do not procrastinate.

Jesus, bless us with a life so great ~
If with our dear neighbor we integrate.
If our friends and family we appreciate.
If our love and respect we do not berate.

If with a special someone we can relate.
If world peace and love we promulgate.
If the blessings in our life we consecrate.
If empowered by you, whom we venerate.

Jesus, bless us with a life so great ~
If the good will of mankind we inflate.
If we understand why we learn to hate.
If to the cause of humanity we donate.

If the cause of our liberty we ameliorate.
If with the tasks of others we correlate.
For our time with You we shant be late
Guaranteed passage into Heaven’s gate.

Jesus, bless us with a life so great ~
If arguments we do not instigate.
If with proud integrity we delegate.
If with team leadership we operate.

If with true friendships we initiate.
If our very human souls we ingratiate.
For with eternity we all have a date.
Prepare for your future and do not wait.
