This is where I weave my wondrous world of pretend without end. Donna J. Fennel

THE PAGEANTRY OF HARMONY®
My original, captivating sonnet paying homage to
Nature’s bonnet at our Harmony Center home.
Respectfully authored by Donna J. Fennel.
Quilled on July 15, 2004.  Revised on May 16, 2006.
Welcome to my world where nature’s beauty is unfurled.

When Mother Nature graces with placid pace
’Cross this sensuous summer scene, so serene ~
She weaves a vestige of velvety, vivid tapestry ~
Shroud, ere proud, of wondrous woodland green.

'Mongst these hallowed hills, valleys and plains ~
O, such aphelion of array is this sumptuous spray.
Beyond ponds rushes rapid, rolling, rapturous rain ~
As she spreads sumptuous display of palleted foray.

She carefully crafts with threads of brilliant hues ~
Her fantasia flora of wild flowers, wisteria and yew.
And fashions tapestry valiant, heralding the news ~
Sunlight of gleaming gold shall complete God’s view.

Nature's portrait segues into a season swift and fleeting ~
Dimmed by Demeter’s daze, as she purveys restless rays.
Tho no shore lay where land could bestow a greeting ~
Her regal eagles outshine shore sea gulls, Heaven knows.

Trees in pear orchards burst with fruit, as they bend low ~
‘Mongst powdery pods yonder milkweed sleeps, silken spun.
Cattle roam near our new home, their sloth saunter so slow ~
While weeping willows’ wanton wisps wallow in winking sun.

Hearken vulture, who seeks to seize neighbor’s agriculture ~
Erstwhile bouncing birds flutter and fly in our lapis lazuli sky.
As deer are aroused, when farmer levels land with his plows ~
From which a bounty he shall yield from his powerful wield.

Behind an ample bush in yonder garden, foxes frolic and play ~
Sedona hue such a vivid view, as they scamper and sashay.
From my balcony, I breathe so deeply freshest breeze today ~
For God does assure, by this vista pure, a most beautiful day.

Up the vale, I witness bonfire and its tendrils of smoky trail ~
Pleasantries of summer’s rhapsodies, as the gray smoke towers.
Alas, its flames untamed shall soon be quenched and drenched ~
For sky now cries in surprise, as it bestows summer tide showers.

The ancient earth of Arkansas spills its store of summer's lore ~
Erstwhile it turns, once more, towards dreaming in yonder sun.
Behold, yonder orchard yields its coveted and crimson store ~
Of apples in familial setting of merry McIntosh and jolly Jonathan.

O, I look so forward to the summer tide eves, for sky is bejewled ~
And bedecked with celestial symphony Divine director does protect.
Yet within this wonderland of wilderness, so innocent and untamed ~
The brightest of stars, my dear mother, is suspended in God’s frame.

Mother Nature here is generous and genteel, with her Midas hand ~
While she spreads buttered gold into my auburn tresses, highlighted.
Here, there and everywhere she waves her wand ‘pon this noble land ~
For her kingdom praises bounty she raises, which is royally knighted.

This area reminds me of the Scottish moors mollifying Avalon’s mists ~
Especially when morn is born, aroused by a quenching kiss of dew.
Borne from the sands of time, are its Ice Age mounds of greenest hue ~
Pristine, primordial and picturesque, they rank ere high on God’s list.

Here in Harmony, I feel connected and protected from karmic intrusion ~
For I have discovered from where I came, atop the spire of eternal flame.
My previous lives, once in abyss of mind concealed, are finally revealed ~
To accompany my life pilgrimage to soulfully heal in God's Holy name.

To no end, may the Holy One send friends to Harmony’s hallowed haven.
Land etched from primordial sand beckons scene picturesque and pristine.
Where glacial waters gleam ere so clean, while one is entranced in dream ~
Erstwhile foxes and fawns frolic, 'midst monarch flight of mystic raven.

Several suns and moons have passed, for me to learn my mission at last.
My soul’s path has been found 'midst beauty that surrounds and abounds
To soothe the savage beast of man within, for him to attain spiritual win.
For it is through my poetic and metaphysical sojourn, that all may learn.

Cometh season soon, Harvest moon shall return sheaves thousand fold ~
Aloofly abandoning her sacrificial stubble o' land history once foretold.
Palette of autumn shall appear, as summer tide dolefully disappears ~
Whence maples blush ‘pon crimson, cradling hills and all becometh still.

Whereupon widow winter shall weave white wonder ‘pon windowsill ~
Erstwhile symmetry of snowflakes shine sublime, surprising our pets.
As Mother Nature draws dying breath, now executing her Final Will ~
She is weary from her summer toil, as she builds her powdery parapet.

I conceive that the blueprint for every lifetime yields lessons to learn ~
To live, love and laugh everlastingly, erstwhile longing to forever grow.
Ah, for another chance at life?  Well, I think not, tho I truly yearn ~
Erstwhile whispering winds of change turn, and my soul I must tow.

How my dear mother prayed that I stand on promised land someday ~
So like her mountainous Pennsylvania home, where she yearned to return.
Having lived here for some time, I have spawned soul-spilled verse divine ~
For the Heavenly Spirit and she thrives within me, as poetic passions burn.

O, sing now a sonnet of this season, in this vestibule of valleys galore ~
Our promised land etched from primordial sand, drawn by One Divine.
A spiritual sanctuary abandoned by Indians from their days of yore ~
Indeed, Harmony is our destiny to be, as I weave my rhyme in time.

My gift to you, our homeland new, heavenly hamlet of Harmony.
May you survive and thrive through the end of this planet's history.
