SECOND BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE FOR LITTLE TOPAZ® A tender tribute to my kitty Topaz, who’s grown up on me!

While serenely sipping hazelnut coffee during this misty morn ~
Reminiscing about when my precious Little Topaz was born.
I watch her clamber so gingerly onto my flannel-donned lap ~
Tender and tame, my little dame, settling down for a long nap.
My angel babe, don’t you know that today’s your special day?
Brought you home five weeks later ~ a preemie and we prayed.
Little Topaz now muses to wash her beautiful, cherubic face ~
Yet she fails to keep her wandering, fluffy taunting tail in place.
While it's waving to and fro like a pendulum, wildly in the air ~
Steve and I try desperately to track it down, but it's never there.
Now it gravitates towards the left, while I reach the other way ~
As her tail rebounds again and again, in such precocious foray.
As I resume my reaching, Topaz’ teasing, curly tail rises up ~
Then descends with a loud thump, to land in my latté cup.
”Mommy, if it weren’t for you, my tail would still be DRY!
O, why can't you humans just be as calm and composed as I?”
As I clean hazelnut caffeine off of her jungle of angora fur ~
Little Topaz now curls into a ball, erstwhile she starts to purr.
A call upon her treasure trove of dreams she intends to keep ~
So Little Topaz, once again, proceeds to promptly fall asleep.
Upon cozy cradle of our loveseat, she now tumbles into a heap ~
For from play Little Topaz is weary, during a morning dreary.
While she lay defeated and deep, transcending towards sleep ~
About an hour snoozing here, I watch in wonder my little dear.
Such a playful imp is she when, lazily, on the telephone I chat ~
Then Little Topaz decides, with pride, to be a mischievous brat.
As she jumps upon my console, a fur ball whole, her welcome mat ~
While friend on other end hears "ring-a-ding" from one pesky cat.
When Little Topaz gazes into my eyes, I wonder what she sees?
I pray she witnesses my unselfish love and longing to appease.
For her destiny could have been that of cold and starving stray ~
Yet we cradled her charms in our arms, taking her home to stay.
O, Little Topaz, I yearn to scribe your name in the virgin snow ~
But I could not bear thoughts of it melting in winter’s afterglow.
It fuels passion to quill this tribute; you mean the world to me ~
Little Topaz surrounded by endearing terms, for the world to see.
My precious birthday girl, I yearn to praise your name in song ~
For you lend light to my quiet life, purveying pleasure all day long.
Your name reeks of majesty; its sound resonates such regality ~
Ah, it will be etched upon my epitaph, regardless of the legality.
Little Topaz, I want to paint your name 'midst the merry stars ~
You were like a cherished child to me, right from the very start!
Your kaleidoscopic eyes allure of lustrous and gleaming gold ~
I promise my timeless love to you as, together, we grow old.
Once in awhile, our Heavenly Father sends His love through ~
By way of a pet or two, for they grow to accept all that is you.
Angel guides in fur disguise, who miraculously enter your life ~
Tugging at our heartstrings light, while enduring our daily strife.
For Topaz sees beyond the external, to what's lying deep within.
She deems you evermore worthy; infallible to ever commit a sin.
When I look into those amber eyes, I view into her little soul ~
In my heart there is no doubt, for her love is the purest gold.
Watching Little Topaz mature was a touching sight to behold ~
I will adore her always while, as our little family, we grow old.
O, she listens so earnestly, when I am whining my tales of woe ~
Lurking under covers when I make the bed, to nibble my big toe.
Now over the next few years, whether we laugh or are in tears ~
Little Topaz will faithfully be there for us, to lend loving cheer.
Her faith in me is what you see, as I view a twinkle in her eye ~
And for Little Topaz I’ll be grateful eternally, ‘til the day I die.
Well, today’s your second birthday, my beautiful birthday girl ~
I have raised you as my baby ~ to Steve and me you’re our world.
And as a token of our appreciation to you, this is my dedication ~
You give cause for this celebration, for to us you bestow elation.
This precocious kitten, now a cat, represents innocence and love ~
As Topaz was delivered to us by God, from the heavens above.
Through swiftly passing years, Topaz has come to be so dear ~
How appropriate now to say, "Topaz, Happy Second Birthday!"
