Welcome! This is Donna J. Fennel, founder, owner, administrator and designer of this visionary poetry, world peace and humanitarian website. Welcome to my Pet Poetica and evolving, fun-loving animal kingdom, which will be increasing in volume over time (by way of my original poems as well as my own pet menagerie, especially now that I live in the beautiful, wildlife abundant burg of Harmony (where we just might wind up owning livestock). Picture Cyber Donna riding the range on her steed while rounding up her cattle, goat and sheep breeds (ho, ho, ho), while she is trying to learn her new "webmeister" craft in her happy Harmony hamlet.
Where would we be without our adorable, loyal subjects known as pets that we have come to love over the years? They ask for little, yet offer so much affection and welcome companionship in return. I am especially fond of cats (also known as "puddies"). My two most precious cats to date are my gorgeous black Angora, Topaz and my handsome black Manx, Romeo, as mischevious as they are beautiful. Currently, I am writing an honorary poem for my Manx cat, Romeo, as I have quilled two as tribute to Topaz, already. Yes, for my Romeo Manx kitty of our new "domeo homeo", I must write you a little "poemeo" (Ho, "hoeo"). One of these days I shall include the hallowed "Romeosophies of life" (Romeo's philosophies) on this website. Romeo has much to say in his own way. Incidently, I just recently adopted a beautiful Golden Retriever/Black Labrador Retriever mix female puppy we have named "Duchess"; the name ideally suits her. A poem as tribute to my adorable Duchess puppy and my new fawn, Heidi will debut in this link shortly, as well as my odes and tributes for the rest of my growing, multi-faceted and always mellow menagerie. Animals in our Fennel clan are considered family.

Indeed, including Duncan of Achnacarry above (my sister's black Persian cat who inherited our royal ancestor's name, going by the nickname of "Dinky"), our pet menagerie completes the "Fennel's Kennel" of amusing characters!
They always appear to come to my rescue when I am sick while lending such comfort. However, as with most of us who own fickle furry friends, these two can get quite rambunctious. Romeo and Topaz perform an act that I have fondly dubbed "slow-mo Sumo"; they wrestle with each other in slow motion and it is hilarious to watch. They enjoy attacking bare feet, so we are disciplined about wearing socks and slippers indoors. Romeo occasionally does a "call of the wild" routine and, typically, he and Topaz jockey for position in my office, both trying to climb into my lap, especially in the morning when I write my works. "Slo-mo Sumo" while I am listening to awesome music and typing away ... whoa, way to go!
Nevertheless, despite their occasional incorrigible behavior and impish antics, I have grown to love Romeo and Topaz as though they were my own son and daughter. It is here where I pay humble homage to these two precocious yet amusing feline characters plus Cookie, my black and white domestic female cat who, recently, had serenely passed away from a disease referred to as Tuleremia (also known as "Rabbit Fever").
I shall be adding more of my own original animal- and pet-oriented poems here in the future, some of which will be comical while others will lean towards being full-blown dramatic.

UPDATE 3-2-08: Recently, I purchased two absolutely adorable, geriatric (elderly) gerbils at an auction. The gerbil boys are two years old, getting on in years and I suppose they do not have much time left here, I fear. However, I look forward to loving and caring for them for the rest of their lives. They are spry and enjoy their exercise wheel. I have not named them yet; however, I think that I have settled on Copernicus and Keppler for now. I just wanted to share the joy of owning new/old pets.
My hope is that you will find my Pet Poetica a refreshing change from my other myriad of poetic themes here. Personally, it seems appropriate that my precious pets left their pawprint here through poetry in Cyber Donna's legendary, stellar Paw Of Fame for they are, indeed, my "pawsome" pals.
