Mother, for you who suffered so. You are always with me, this I know. Love, Donna
DEAR MOTHER, WE MISS YOU ®
Original Mother's Day poetry paying humble
tribute to my dear mother by Donna J. Fennel.
Revised on this 30th day of April, 2006.
Dear mother, kneelest do I now near your bed ~
Knowest all prayers for thou have I doth said.
Behold, I grasp your hand so frail and white ~
Alas, in life you have been my grandest light.
Marveled matriarch, o do not leave us now ~
For our family is so battle-scarred and worn.
Nay, tho we suffer naught more so than thou ~
If thou passes on now, our hearts will be torn.
You smile, whispering into mine ears ere clear ~
I must leave now, dear; pray thou hast no fear.
When thou needs me, listen, for I shall be near ~
To cradle thou in mine arms, wiping away tears.
Erstwhile I sit languishing in her bedroom chair ~
Sinister shadows overwhelm my soul with despair.
Angel of Death aims to abscond her final breath ~
As it fights with might to escape, while I doth wept.
Precious parent, I remain here throughout the night ~
Knowing they arrive to steal thou with the morn light.
Thou is wrapped up in warmest blanket, o so tight ~
Of deep purple hue, for thine is royalty true, o so right.
Into realm of night, I now embroider emotional spell ~
Impeccably woven from the womb of she who suffered so.
Beyond this dominion she sighs, bidding us fond farewell.
I pray she lay in a tranquil world of Heaven versus Hell.
Lo, an angel tumbled to his knees, casting wings aside ~
On that mournful morn, when our precious mother died.
One clear October day, God doth seized her life away ~
While we gazed on in remorse, Fate charted her course.
It is so when a person dies, no light shines in their eyes.
Yet witnessing now in hers, shocking be what we all saw:
Tho breath now broken He did, indeed bestow her token ~
For in her orbs of green now shone the Holy Light of God.
Cometh now her funeral day, be it bounty of Autumn chill ~
Amongst congregation of today, hours set the hourglass still.
Sadness saturated hearts with pain, as tears falleth like rain.
Yet she is no longer in pain, for she traveled homeward again.
Years hath now escalated by, yet for thou we shall fore’er cry ~
Especially on bless'd Mother’s Day, whence for thou we do pray.
May our clan walk hand in hand 'pon her pearlesque path one day ~
While our tears find way 'midst her gravestone of granite and gray.
Lo, what sister and I witnessed as we left her adorned vestibule ~
Remains an anomaly to this day, for ‘twas seen be we two in rhyme.
‘Twas a foliage funnel that ascended into hallowed hall of Heaven ~
Be this mother’s farewell, as she now travels towards vortex of time.
Whence mine slumber is encumbered during eves of dismal storm ~
I fear naught, tho overwrought, for mother’s hand is 'pon my brow.
Cometh her whisper, for me and sister, to soothe our waiting ears ~
"Be patient, my daughters, for soon we will be together again, dears."
Walketh now, dear mother, ‘mongst all in spirit realm of mankind ~
Whilst I whirl mine world of words, quilling questful prose in rhyme.
Be this my humble homage true; o, if I could be only a third of you!
Pray one day we share angel feathers, facing His holy path together.
My dear mother, you have returned home.  Rest in peace.
May one day our earthly wars cease, while in life we are blessed by the Lord with a new lease.

"During the wake of early morn is when I gleefully find ~
Poetic treasures without measure in the corners of my mind.

Comes to life in persuasion for me to quill my next creation."
